RESTON, Va. — June 20, 2023 — Military secrets have become nation-state targets, and the U.S. government is updating regulations to fight back. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recently published the second iteration of its Zero Trust Maturity Model and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) contractors await updates to the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Regulatory efforts are striving to have our defense systems thrive.
Contractors that attend the fourth-annual CMMC CON, the largest CMMC conference in the world, will hear from a decorated veteran who is well-versed in defending the nation on multiple fronts. CyberSheath announced that combat veteran Robert J. O’Neill will deliver the keynote address at CMMC CON 2023. The free, virtual, one-day event will be held September 27, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT. Sept. 27, 2023 from 9-5 a.m. EDT. Registration for the event is still available.
O’Neill is a former Navy SEAL Team Six leader who led over 400 missions in several locations, including Liberia, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. He was a Team Leader for Operation Neptune’s Spear, the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden; he was part of Operation Red Wings, helping rescue a lone SEAL team survivor from a reconnaissance mission in Afghanistan; and was the lead jumper for the mission that saved Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates. O’Neill is a New York Times bestselling author and is decorated with 53 awards, including two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars with Valor, and three Presidential Unit Commendations.
O’Neill also co-founded the Special Operators Transition Foundation, which supports veterans as they forge post-military career paths. For his efforts on the battlefield and in the boardroom, O’Neill epitomizes this year’s CMMC CON theme, “Strive to Thrive.”
